Initially, Asveri expressed himself through a traditional figurative language. However, starting in the eighties, his painting evolved towards a more instinctive and personal gesture, rich in colour and matter, approaching the expressionism of Art Brut. As a representative of a strongly instinctual and emotional pictorial style, Asveri approaches the surface of the painting with an overbearing and primitive gesture. Despite this, other less obvious expressive matrices can be perceived in his painting, such as the memory of artistic images. Asveri's painting is deeply vital and inspired by the observation of the real. Animals, which the artist collects, cares for and loves above all else, are a primary source of inspiration. Asveri dedicates drawings, paintings and poems to them, manifesting a careful and passionate connection with the animal world.
