The Connor Brother's 'Pulp Fiction' series, an incredibly rich body of work recontextualizing the artworks of 1950's dime novels, giving them new and disconcerting meanings.

Throughout the series, vintage pin-up beauties, disheveled heroes and old Hollywood starlets are juxtaposed with unexpected, witty captions such as 'I drink to make other people more interesting', and 'I don't know about other people but when I wake up in the morning and put my shoes on I think Christ, now what", dragging their subjects from the romanticised fictional past into the contemporary world.

Over the last four years, the Pulp Fiction series has served as a vehicle for the Brothers to explore contemporary society's obsession with fake news and a post truth reality, questioning what we mean when we say that something is 'true'.

This obsession with the nature of reality stems from The Connor Brother's own experiences of both mental health issues and addiction, and the alternative realities these experiences involve. "Perhaps those we deem 'crazy' experience a truth every bit as valid as our own," suggests James Golding, one half of The Connor Brothers.

After the success of the Pulp Fiction series, which has been a part of their lives for the last four years, The Connor Brothers will move on to a new body of work entitled 'True Fiction.' When asked about the new series, The Brothers enthused "The new work is a departure from Pulp Fiction as we are now working directly with models, rather than found materials, allowing us to present a greater diversity of subjects, more reflective of the world we live in, and work on themed exhibitions."
