Michael Olsen Butterfly Art
Michael Olsen enjoys the simple, beautiful things life has to offer: love; family; the outdoors (cycling through it); music (better heard through a needle); and moments in time spent happily with others or alone – all of which inspire him to try to make beautiful things for people to enjoy.
Michael has always been fascinated by nature and in particular butterflies. To him, there is something captivating about that moment when a butterfly stops to let an onlooker admire its form. Using this as his stimulus he wanted to see if he could create something that was both contemporary and visually stimulating, which could be displayed on the wall in the home. He decided to create a flight of butterflies. Michael Olsen loved the idea of bringing nature indoors and made a conscious decision to make a piece large enough and intricate enough to be looked at daily, but always offer something new to see.
For these installations, he works with hand-painted feather butterflies which are meticulously arranged as if floating on the wall and encased in simple acrylic boxes.
He is currently experimenting with colours and shapes and offers bespoke cabinets made to order.
